BEIJING: The anti-smuggling bureau of Mengding customs House had cracked a really big drug trafficking case in which 72 kilograms of ice, 4 suspects and 4 cars were seized, said Kunming customs District.

The anti-smuggling bureau of Mengding Customs House received a tip-off in April this year, saying that some people were trying to smuggle in drugs bought from abroad to reap profits. Getting the information, officers of the anti-smuggling bureau started the investigation immediately and identified the suspects after 6 months of detailed groundwork.

On October 17, the traffickers tried to smuggle the drugs to Kunming by car, and they even arranged another car to run ahead to distract Customs officers. However, their seemingly flawless plan was seen through. The car carrying the drugs was stopped by the officers and 130 packages of drugs were found in 4 big paper boxes in the car trunk. A total of 72 kilograms of ice and 3 suspects were seized at the scene and another person involved was captured later in Kunming, said anti-smuggling Customs officers.
