BEIJING: China customs held an activity to destroy in an environmentally-friendly way the 525 kilograms of noxious rice the Customs administration has confiscated a few days ago.

Customs officers said the consignment of rice was hidden in some other goods and false-declared by the suspect to the Customs. Officers found the rice when exercising control over the goods and found out after investigation that the grain was exported by the suspect without presence of the export permit and declaration documents. Later, after having the sample of the rice tested, Customs officers detained the goods which were proved to be below-grade moldy ones. According to the statistics, Ningbo Customs District has intercepted 12 cases in which more than 13,000 kilograms of noxious rice were seized in the recent 3 years, all of which were destroyed.
