BEIJING: Chinese authorities have not provided any official information on its new inspections for frozen Norwegian seafood imports, the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC)’s representative in China told media.
First mentioned by the NSC in a note about the country’s May exports, the seemingly new procedures put in place by Chinese inspection and quarantine services (CIQ) are having a short-term impact on the seafood trade already.
“We are aware of the rumors regarding import challenges on frozen Norwegian seafood to China,” confirmed the NSC’s Sigmund Bjorgo. “Chinese importers and Norwegian exporters has notified us regarding this; however, we have not received any formal information from Chinese authorities.”
