China customs seizes 5.1kg of Ivory, rare aquatic animal products

BEIJING: Chinese passenger, Hong, entered through Youyi Port in Pingxiang, Guangxi province. When exercising control over the passenger’s carry-on luggage, officers of Nanning Customs District found suspected ivory products with a weight of 5010.8 grams in the porcelain vases in his luggage.

Meanwhile, Officers of Beijing Customs District handed over to Beijing Municipal Bureau of Agriculture 429 rare aquatic animal products seized in recent years. Beijing Customs District and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Agriculture agreed that the two sides will establish a mechanism for regular handing over of the confiscated aquatic wild animal products to enhance the protection over the aquatic wild species.
