China Customs seizes smuggled musk and ox gallstones

BEIJING: Shenzhen Customs announced that, at Luohu port here the other day, it seized a batch of suspected smuggled animal products from within the luggage of an inward passenger, including 20 pieces of musk, 30 bear galls, one pack of bear gall cream, 20 packs of ox gallstones and 10 packs of bovine calculus powder.

Through identification by South China Wildlife Identification Center and CCIC (China Certification & Inspection Group), the aforesaid items were musk bag (belonging to Siberian moschidae) weighing 495 grams, 28 gallbladders of black bears (ursidae) and 2 gallbladders of brown bears (ursidae) weighing totally 252 grams, black bear gall cream weighing 424 grams, natural ox gallstone weighing 9.67 kilograms and gallstone powder ox gallstone powder weighing 538 grams with a total worth of 1,832,000 yuan.
