BEIJING: At the beginning of January, China exported 9 cooled containers with 140 tons of fresh pears to Russia via the Manzhouli railway. Total product value is estimated to reach 80,000 USD. This is one of the first times that China is exported fresh fruit to Russia via controlled atmosphere containers.
Chinese pears have been popular on the Russian market since the European boycott. In December 2015, 2,000 tons of pears were exported to Russia via the Port of Manzhouli. In 2015, total pear export to Russia through Manzhouli increased by 300%. Pears are now the third biggest product category, after oranges and apples.
