China for oganising sports matches between Pak-China customs officials

ISLAMABAD: In order to promote bilateral friendly relation between General Administration of Customs China and Pakistan Customs Services, the Urumqi Customs proposed organising cultural and sports activities between Border Customs Stations.

The Pakistan Customs has welcomed the proposal. Regarding the proposal, Custom North Chief Collector Sarwat Tahira Habib has instructed Gilgit-Baltistan Collector Muhammad Ali Raza to form a sports team consisting of customs officers and officials in order to hold a match with China Customs.

On the instruction, GB Collector Muhammad Ali Raza has planned to organise a cricket match with China Customs officers at Sust Border.

It is pertinent to mention here that within the frame work of agreement on facilitation of cross border movement of goods and mutual assistance in enforcement of customs laws, April 2007, agreement on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matter, April 2005, and protocol of information exchange on anti-smuggling matters between Rawalpindi Customs and Urumqi Customs, April 2007, a meeting was held between delegation from Urumqi Customs and Pakistan Customs where this idea of sports activities was put forward.
