China investing huge amount in energy sectors: Shahbaz

ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday said that China is investing a huge amount in different energy sectors of Pakistan.

“Wind, solar, hydel, coal and other resources would be utilized for generating electricity to meet the need of the country,” he stated while talking to Pakistan Television channel.

He said that all the resources would be used for generating electricity with the help of China.

“Pakistan will sign agreements with China to carry out the power projects for addressing the demand of electricity in the country,” he said.

Shahbaz Sharif said that China is going to inject nearly 20 billion dollars in the power sector.

He said that President of China had given directives to the banks for providing financial assistance to Pakistan for executing energy projects.

To a question, he said that China is giving big package to Pakistan due to the confidence built by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for investors looking into this region.

He hoped that all the energy projects would be completed by the end of 2017. To another question he said that Pakistan had to face a big economic loss due to the protest demonstration and sit-ins launched by Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf.
