BEIJING: Shanghai stocks opened slightly down on Friday morning, following a weak lead from Wall Street, paring gains made on hopes for economic reforms in China.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, was flat, edging up 0.90 points to 2,094.37.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index opened down 1.0 per cent, or 231.59 points, to 22,819.45, while the Shanghai Composite Index eased 0.24 per cent, or 8.38 points, to 3,514.44.
