BEIJING: Global airlines will take delivery of 38,050 new aircraft during the next 20 years with China retaining its No.1 position in the Asian market, the United States aviation giant Boeing Co said here the other day.

The global commercial airline fleet will double to 43,560 aircraft from 2015 to 2034, while the total value of new airplanes being delivered during that period will reach $5.6 trillion, Boeing revealed in its annual market outlook.

Asia will lead the way in deliveries as the region will need 14,330 new aircraft. This will account for 38 percent of global sales.

“Half that demand (or about 7,000 aircraft) will come from China,” Randy Tinseth, Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ vice-president of marketing, said.

The country is the second largest domestic airline passenger market in the world and expects to be the largest in the next 20 years. There are more than 200 civil airports in China, according to Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
