China witnesses 85% increase in metallurgical coke export

BEIJING: China has showed 85% increase in the exports of metallurgical coke in 2014 which reached to 85.1 million metric ton.

This was the highest annual export figure recorded since 2008, when volumes hit 12.17 million mt.

December exports increased 36% year on year to 1.02 million mt — the largest monthly export volume since September 2008.

The December figure was also 8.5% higher than November’s exports.

Japan and Malaysia were among the most active buyers of Chinese coke in December — with top importer India staying largely on the sidelines.

Other countries that imported at least 100,000 mt of Chinese material last year include Brazil, Vietnam, Iran, South Africa, Mexico, Ukraine and Netherlands, customs data showed.
