China’s June alumina imports fall 54% on year to 70,000 mt, exports drop 85%

BEIJING: China’s imports of alumina, or aluminum oxide, stood at 70,000 mt in June, down 54.2% year on year, according to General Administration of Customs data released Sunday. June imports were half that recorded in May. Over January-June, China’s alumina imports totaled 1.39 million mt, down 17.3% year on year.

Meanwhile, China exported 3,112 mt of alumina in June, down 85.3% year on year and down 33.1% month on month. Over January-June, its alumina exports totaled 27,472 mt, down 40.8% year on year.
