BEIJING: According to national economic census, China’s manufacturing and services companies rose to 39.5 trillion yuan (US$6.3 trillion) at the end of 2014.
The number of companies was 50,000 more than in 2013, when the previous survey was conducted. The biggest single group was retailers, totaling 146,000, followed by manufacturers and rental service providers.
Of the total assets, 88 percent were managed by companies in the service industry.
Domestic firms accounted for 90 percent of the total, while 12.24 million people worked in the city’s manufacturing and services sectors.
