Chinese companies ready to invest $360m in 16 projects in Indonesia

JAKARTA: Companies from Shenzhen, China, are ready to invest in 16 projects worth US$360 million in Indonesia, an official has said.

Shenzen municipal administration economic commission vice director Ye Chang Fu said the administration had pushed companies in the city to expand business relations with Indonesians.

“Indonesia is an important business counterpart for Shenzen,” Ye said on Friday, citing the total trade value of Indonesia-Shenzhen business, $3.07 billion last year.

“Exports from Shenzhen reached $29.5 billion, roughly a 10 percent increase [compared to a year before],” Ye said during the Shenzhen-Jakarta Economic Trade Exchange and Matchmaking event at Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta as quoted by tempo.co.

At present, 17 Shenzhen companies investing in Indonesia including Huawei, ZTE, Han Laser, Hytera and others. The investments total to $68.85 million.

Meanwhile, according to Ye, Indonesian investments in Shenzen are worth $18.96 million in 38 projects at the end of last year.
