Chinese companies to establish agri research units in Sindh

KARACHI: Chinese companies have expressed their interest to establish agriculture research centres and nurseries In Sindh province to conduct research on drip irrigation system as well as crops in accordance with weather and land in desert areas.

This was disclosed in a meeting between Chinese delegation with chairperson Sindh Board of Investment (SBI), Naheed Memon, which was held here on Tuesday.

The delegation was comprised Secretary Communist Party of Chinese province Xin jiang’s city Shihezi and Vice Mayor, Xu Zhi Xin and Chairman Xinjiang Tianye group of companies, Wu Bin. Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sindh Enterprises Development Fund (SEDF), Mehboob-ul-haq, Director SBI Special Projects, Abdul Azeem Uqili and other notables were also present.

The members of the delegation told the chairperson SBI that the Chinese firms are interested to invest in number of projects in various sectors are being jointly executed including in value addition for agricultural development, use of technology for preservation of water, investment in power generation and introduction of modern methods in live stock sector.

Naheed Memon appreciated the delegation for taking interest in programs and projects and assured all possible cooperation on behalf of Sindh Government. It was also told that the delegation will visit Tharparkar, Nawabshah and Khairpur and talk to local administrations regarding investment opportunities.
