ISLAMABAD: A 16 member Chinese delegation led by He Yiming, Deputy Director General of Department of Commerce, Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry to explore business collaborations with Pakistani counterparts.
The delegation was representing steel, real estate, energy, petrochemicals, food processing, cold storage chain, logistics, investment development and international trade.
Speaking at the occasion, He Yiming, Deputy Director General of Department of Commerce, Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region said that China and Pakistan have great potential to enhance cooperation in various fields for mutual benefit. He said the materialization of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would pave way for developing long term partnerships between the two countries and added that this flagship project would also create plenty of business and investment opportunities for entrepreneurs of both countries. He stressed that both countries should develop synergies to take full advantage of CPEC project and should not miss this golden opportunity to enhance business prospects.
He also highlighted the investment opportunities for Pakistani businessmen in Xinjiang Region and urged that Pakistani investors should visit Xinjiang explore business & investment prospects in that Region.
In his welcome address, Muzzamil Hussain Sabri, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry highlighted the investment potential in various sectors of Pakistan’s economy. He said that economic indicators of Pakistan were showing positive trends and time was ripe for Chinese investors to enhance investment in Pakistan, especially in energy, infrastructure development, steel, real estate, exploration of natural resources including marble & granite and agriculture sectors. He said Government of Pakistan was offering attractive incentives to foreign investors and Chinese industrialists should set up manufacturing plants in Pakistan to promote exports to other countries.
He said that CPEC offered tremendous prospects for strengthening business collaborations between both countries and hoped that this mega project would be helpful in further strengthening trade and economic ties between Pakistan and China. He assured that ICCI would fully cooperate with Chinese companies for identifying potential areas of joint investment and business ventures between entrepreneurs of both countries.
Mian Akram Farid, Vice President, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry said Pakistan-China Silk Route was playing key role in promoting trade relations between the two countries. He said the development of Gwadar Port by China will open up new opportunities of promoting Pakistan’s trade and exports to Central Asia. He said Chinese investors should invest in Pakistan’s steel, minerals and other potential sectors that offered profitable investment opportunities to foreign investors. He hoped that Pakistan will benefit a lot by developing close relations with Xinjiang Region. Muhammad Shakeel Munir Senior Vice President & M. Ashfaq H. Chatha Vice President ICCI, Malik Sohail Hussain, Chief Coordination FPCCI, Khalid Iqbal Malik and others also participated in B2B meetings with Chinese counterparts and explored areas of mutual collaboration.
