SHANGHAI: China has previously busted snakes on a plane and on a train (well, sort of) and now customs officials have seized seven snakes in a parcel en route to Shanghai.
According to this report by People’s Daily Online, it would seem that no shipping channel is sacred in the eyes of serpent smugglers.
In news that would have Samuel L. Jackson flip his shit, Shanghai’s inspection and quarantine bureau discovered the snakes, some of which were boa constrictors, in a package sent from Taiwan.
The snakes are originally from South America and are actually non-venomous pets. Yet, customs regulations forbid the freight of live animals in the mail and they were duly confiscated.
This is not the first time snakes have been encountered in strange places. Last month we saw a bikini-clad dancer cavorting around stage with a giant python at a housing fair; while a Hong Kong woman was stunned to be woken by a snake much bigger than what she was used to last year.
