ISLAMABAD: The Chinese investors have showed their interest to invest in LNG-based and coal-fired power projects in Pakistan.
This was disclosed, when a delegation of Chinese Gezhouba Group, led by its Chief Financial Officer Lin Xiaodan, called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the PM House. The group, which is engaged in Sukki Kenari hydel power project, also discussed with the prime minister issues related to power generation.
The prime minister said that the government was keen to increase power generation in order to meet the demand and reduce power outages. He said foreign investors were being encouraged to invest in energy sector.
Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Secretary to Prime Minister Javed Aslam, Water and Power Secretary Younus Dagha, and Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) Chairman Zafar Mahmood were also present during the meeting.
