Chinese Minister Counsellor calls on Chairman FBR

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Minister Counsellor, Mr. Yang Guangyuan accompanied by Mr. Wang Jian, and Ms. Xie Yang called on Chairman, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Mr. Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana at the FBR Headquarters. Member(IR-Operations), FBR and Chief (International Tax Operations) FBR were also present on the occasion.

Chairman FBR welcomed the Chinese delegation and expressed his gratitude to the Chinese Minister Counsellor for his visit and reaffirmed shared commitment to mutual growth and prosperity. He payed thanks to Mr. Yang Guangyuan for the capacity building support extended by the Chinese authorities in July last year which enabled FBR’s officers to work more professionally and efficiently.

Mr. Yang Guangyuan praised FBR for crossing historic one trillion mark in one month. Chinese Minister Counsellor stressed on the need for continuous association with Chinese Companies and FBR. He discussed the issues related to sales tax, income tax and custom duties faced by Chinese companies working under CPEC projects. Chairman FBR directed the Member (IR-Operations), FBR, to constitute a Committee to resolve the issues faced by Chinese companies at field offices of FBR across Pakistan. Chairman FBR further directed that the proposed committee should also be mandated to recommend simplification of Tax Laws. Mr. Yang Guangyuan ensured his full support to Operations Wing, FBR to constitute the Committee by including a focal person from Chinese side.

The meeting provided an opportunity for fruitful exchange of views on various tax matters. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with Chairman, FBR and the Chinese Minister Counsellor expressing their optimism regarding the future of mutual cooperation and shared prosperity of the two nations.
