CISCO to establish academies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa universities: KP govt MoU Sign

KARACHI: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Science and Technology and Information Technology (ST&IT) department signed as MoU with CISCO-a California based international IT Company.

According to the MoU CISCO will invest in the province to establish CISCO academies in different universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

CISCO will also provide professional training of international standard to the IT graduates and professionals from various universities of the province to empower them with CISCO certification which will lead the new generation of the province to compete with the IT industry having international certifications.

A ceremony to this effect was held with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for ST&IT, Shahram Tarakai as chief guest. The MoU was signed by the authorities concerned of ST&IT department and CISCO Pakistan. The CISCO academies to be established under the MoU will offer international standard IT certification to the graduates in the province on 75 percent confessional charges. It merits a mention here that at present no such international standard government IT institute or university exist in the province wherefrom the young IT professionals can get certified or compete with the modern era of IT.

Addressing the ceremony Shahram Tarakai termed the signing of the MoU as a revolutionary step and said that the present provincial government is not only committed but taking result-oriented steps as well to effectively use information and communication technology for the socio-economic development of the province, adding that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government aims at introducing information and communication technology in all sectors to promote IT industry in the province and thus empowering the IT literates and graduates through an organised and institutionalised e-governance initiatives.
