LAHORE: Minister for Excise and Taxation, Law and Finance Punjab, Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that citizens can register their motor vehicles online and will have the number of their choice. He said that they can pay token tax and get stickers containing all the details of token tax.
He said that the Excise and Taxation Department is finalising the reforms in the department and 36 districts will connect online for the motor registration purposes.
He said that government has adopted the policy of computerization and e-technology and encouraging results are being witnessed, especially in the recovery of taxes.
Shuja was Presiding over a high level meeting regarding motor registration number plates, Secretary Prosecution, Secretary Excise & Taxation, Director General and senior officials of police, law, finance and Excise & Taxation Departments also attended the meeting.
Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said that the department is considering issuance of latest quality motor registration number plates and these numbers plates will be issued by Excise & Taxation Department and will have the qualities of checking theft of vehicles.
He said that motor vehicle number plats will also have the qualities of our social set up, known personalities, security features and identification of the vehicles would be easier than the present system. The property, token and services taxes are the major source of income of the government and modern computerized technology is being introduced for improving the system of receipt of taxes as good governance and elimination of corruption is the mission of Punjab government, he concluded.
