CIU of Port Qasim halts few consignments for examination

KARACHI: The Collectorate of Intelligence Unit (CIU) of Customs Collectorate Port Qasim has halted few consignments containing multiple imported items, it is learnt here.

The sources informed Customs Today that the officials of CIU have stopped some imported consignments containing multiple items for thorough examination at Qasim International Containers Terminal (QICT).

The sources further revealed that the officials of CIU have some information that few importers were trying to clear their imported consignments by using wrong PCT Heading and Customs Valuation.

Reacting upon the information, CIU of Port Qasim were sought permission of the Collector Mukarram Jah Ansari in connection with scrutinizing the containers thoroughly.

Responding upon the query, the sources further said that the consignments containing cosmetics items, auto-parts and toileteers.

The sources further added that the Collectorate would conduct and complete the examination of those halted consignments within couple of days.

The Collector Port Qasim has also asked the CIU officials to initiate thorough examination of those consignments so that a strong case would be prepared against those importers who are involved in misusing the PCT Heading and Customs Valuations.
