WASHINGTON: Clark County experienced a tumble in its unemployment rate for the month of August. According to statistics provided by the Arkansas Department of Workforce, the unemployment rate for Clark County for the month of August was 3.8 percent. The unemployment rate for July was 4.5 percent, while an unemployment rate of 4.4 percent was reported for June. Clark County had a civilian labor force of 9,672 for August. The labor force was 9,586 for July and 9,552 for June. Of the August labor force, 9,301 people were employed, while 371 people were unemployed. A civilian labor force of 9,373 and an unemployment rate of 4.7 percent was reported for August 2016.

Garland County’s unemployment rate decreased slightly from 4.1 percent in July to 3.8 percent in August. Garland County had an unemployment rate of 4.0 percent in June. Seasonally adjusted statistics for the state show there were 47,729 people unemployed out of a labor force of 1,378,157 for an unemployment rate of 3.5 percent. The percentage is up from 3.4 percent in July. The national unemployment rate decreased slightly from 4.6 percent in July to 4.5 percent in August.
