Claro revenues up 28% in Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay in Q4

WASHINGTON: America Movil reported third-quarter revenues up 42.0 percent year on year in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, with its three Claro units posting combined sales of ARS 10.3 billion compared to ARS 7.2 billion a year ago, including a 30.2 percent rise in service revenues to ARS 8.4 billion.

Mobile service revenues in the three countries were up 28.0 percent to ARS 7.8 billion with device sales growing 21.2 percent to ARS 2.6 billion and fixed-line revenues surging 54.8 percent year-on-year to ARS 739 million. Fourth-quarter EBITDA for the region came to ARS 3.5 billion, up 10.9 percent from a year earlier, while the EBITDA margin fell to 31.7 percent of revenues from the year-earlier figure of 36.4 percent.

Mobile customer numbers rose 4.1 percent to 23.7 million, with a 5.9 percent decline in postpaid customers to 2.45 million offset by a 5.4 percent rise in prepaid customers to 21.3 million. America Movil’s units in the region also had 618,000 revenue-generating units in the fixed market on 31 December, up 6.1 percent on the year-earlier result.
