CM asks federal govt to ensure 3.5% electricity quota to KP

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has asked the Federal government to ensure provision of the allocated electricity quota of 3.5 per cent to the province.

The CM said this while presiding over a high-level meeting convened to discuss the unscheduled loadshedding and other related issues in the province held at Chief Minister Secretariat Peshawar.

The meeting besides Provincial Ministers Inayatullah Khan, Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, Muhammad Atif Khan, Shah Farman Khan, MPA Mian Khaliq-ur Rehman, District Nazim Peshawar Muhammad Asim was also attended by Chief PESCO Anwar-ul-Haq Yousafzai, Provincial Secretary for Energy Naeem Khan and other high-ups.

The Pesco authorities informed the meeting about the steps being taken for improvement of transmission line, elimination of line losses and decreasing loadshedding hours in the province.

The Chief Minister ordered the Pesco authorities to reduce line losses to overcome loadshedding. He also directed constitution of high-level committee headed by the Provincial Secretary for Energy and comprising Pesco authorities and elected Nazims to put forth recommendations for reduction of line losses to the provincial government.

The meeting jointly decided repair of the out of order transformers in a Pesco approved workshops only. It was also decided that expenditure incurred on the repair of such transformers would be paid through TMAs.
