CM okays Rs 2.37b special development programme for Cholistan

BAHAWALPUR: Provincial Minister for Cooperative and Cholistan Development Authority Chairman Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channer has said that the Punjab chief minister approved special development program amounting to Rs 2.37 billion for Cholistan.

Development program has revolutionized the socio physical infra-structure by establishing new water reservoirs, constructing new roads network and modernizing livestock extensive services through mobile veterinary services, Channer added. He made these remarks while speaking as a chief guest of a certificate awarding ceremony to 250 Cholistani peasants who were trained by the Arid Research Zone Bahawalpur. Speaking on the occasion he said, “Chief Minister Punjab’s vision to establish state of the art livestock facilities is turning into reality in the shape of University of Animal Sciences at Bahawalpur”.

He further said Arid Zone Research Centre’s innovative endeavour to impart technical training to the peasants of Cholistan would boost agri production in the vast arid zone of Cholistan which would bring sustainable prosperity for hundreds of thousand Cholistani peasants.

Earlier, while briefing the ceremony, Director Arid Research Zone Dr. Malik Muhammad Yousuf told that special training programs were organized to enhance technical skill in the field of agriculture for cholistani peasants at Channan Peer, Yazman, Azri, Laal Suhanra, Chak No. 115/DNB and Khairpur Tamewali. The ceremony was attended by Director General Pakistan Agriculture Research Council Dr. Ahmad Bukhsh, Director Arid Zone Malik Muhammad Yousuf, former MPA Sardar Jahanzaib Waran and Regional Director Allama Iqbal Open University Khawaja Sabir Hussain.

Later, Provincial Minister Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channer gave away certificates among the trainee Cholistani peasants.
