ATHENS: The French shipping company says that port congestion in Thessaloniki has prompted its decision to impose an Emergency Port Congestion Surcharge from 8 January.
CMA CGM notes that congestion at the Greek port is putting pressure on its operational costs and generating service disruptions.
The new surcharge announced today (Friday) will apply to all cargo, including dry, reefer, OOG and breakbulk, moving to/from Greece and all sub-Saharan Africa ports. The rate will be $80 per TEU and $160 per FEU.
