CNG sector to directly import LNG from March 31

ISLAMABAD: The Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) sector will directly import the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) after which no CNG station would face closure. An official of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources told Customs Today that the the import of LNG will start from March 31 in the country.

“After arrival of LNG the annual demand of petrol in Punjab would be reduced by almost two billion litres per annum,” he said. He said that import of LNG will have a positive impact on all the people and every sector of the country.

He added that CNG was an important part of the country’s energy mix and efforts were under way to revive the industry as early as possible.  All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) Central Leader Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha lauded the government’s support for import of LNG for CNG sector terming it as the beginning of the end of energy crisis in the country.

Ghiyas Paracha said that with the use of LNG to the CNG sector around two billion litres of petrol will be saved annually and price of CNG will be fixed in liters instead of kilograms.
