NEW DELHI: Coal stocks at 17 major Indian ports totaled 11.57 million mt as of December 17, data released by Indian shipbroker Interocean on Friday showed.
The stockpile comprised 9.29 million mt of thermal coal and 2.13 million mt of coking coal, the data showed. Anthracite stocks were at 32,000 mt, while petcoke stocks stood at 122,000 mt.
The latest data was not comparable week on week as it did not include stockpile details for the key Indian ports for December 18. Coal stocks at 17 major Indian ports were at 13.13 million mt as of December 11, with 10.89 million mt of thermal coal and 2.11 million mt of coking coal.
As of December 17, Paradip on India’s east coast had the highest coal stocks at 1.98 million mt and also had the highest stocks of coking coal at 938,000 mt. Kandla on the west coast had the highest inventory of thermal coal at 1.37 million mt, according to Interocean.
The 17 ports surveyed by Interocean were Mangalore, Tuticorin, Kakinada, Paradip, Kandla, Gangavaram, Visakhapatnam, Krishnapatnam, Muldwarka, Bhavnagar, Pipavav, Goa, Haldia, Magdalla, Dahej, Mumbai and Karaikal.
