HONG KONG: Researchers from the Univerite Libre de Bruxelles studied the personality trais of cockroaches. They say that the findings were interesting. It seems that the little tiny thing has got plenty of personality in their small bodies.
The study involved a selected number of cockroaches. Researchers put them in an enclosure under a bright light. After that they were given a couple of platforms under which they were to hide. They also contained tracking devices installed on their backs and researchers kept track of their behavior.
After many trials they found out that when cockroaches were released each individual had the same pattern. Some immediately went under the platform and their responses were also the same. Some of them were more extroverted that preferred to explore. Others were introverted that liked to stay safe under the platform.
The difference in personalities is also good for cockroaches. The extroverted cockroaches take up the role of exploring new places while the introverted cockroaches ensure that the shelter remains safe.
