When Pakistani businessmen started shifting their industries from Pakistan to Bangladesh, the then government of President Pervez Musharraf did not bother to find out the causes of this trend. There should have been a matter of concern for the government as to why thousands of Pakistanis were eager to shift their businesses to Bangladesh where a day is not passed without Pakistan bashing. However, nothing happened in Islamabad to stop the capital flight. In real sense, it was the policies of the Bangladeshi government which had not only attracted the Pakistani businessmen, but also multi-national companies and popular brands from all over the world and now its exports are more than Pakistan.
It is a good omen that the current government in Pakistan is trying to boost economy by stimulating industrial growth in the country. Businessmen from various countries are taking interests in setting up businesses in Pakistan. The Chinese businessmen are frequently visiting Pakistan and other countries such as Turkmenistan, Turkey and Bahrain are eager to start industrial ventures in Pakistan in collaboration with the local partners. Various Belarusian companies have shown interest to invest in Pakistan and are seeking collaboration with local auto parts manufacturers and auto engineering companies to set up industries in the country. A Belarusian businessmen delegation is currently visiting Pakistan and is holding meetings with their local counterparts. In such a meeting with chairman of the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers, the delegation took keen interest to set up parts manufacturing plants in Pakistan. The former Russian state has no burden of any past hostility with Islamabad and it treats Pakistan as a friendly country which can be exploited to boost economic and trade relations between the two countries. Belarus is one of the most industrialized countries in the heart of Europe and its gross domestic product is growing. The members of the delegation urged the association to explore the possibilities of joint ventures in industrial sector.
Again, if the Pakistani businessmen can invest in Bangladesh, the businessmen of Bangladesh and other countries can also invest in Pakistan provided the economic climate is improved in the country. Pakistan is situated at the best location of earth and if it wants to start joint ventures with landlocked countries, it has to adopt business-friendly policies. China is moving toward heavy industries and Pakistan can attract the Chinese businessmen to set up small industrial units in the country. In case of Belarus, Pakistan can fulfill the demand of auto parts of the half of the world if it gives incentives to the foreign businessmen.
