Collectorate of Appeals decides 177 cases in seven months

LAHORE : The Collectorate of Appeals has decided 177 appeals out of 215 filed with the collectorate during the last seven months of the financial year 2015-16.

According to details, Collector Appeals Asif Mehmood Jah heard 177 appeals involving Rs 72.66 million of duty and taxes.

The appellants filed 215 appeals in total involving Rs 87.94 million duty and tax while remaining appeals are just 38 involving Rs 15. 28 million duty and taxes.

The collector  decided 122 cases in favour of government agencies including anti- smuggling organisaton, customs intelligence and collectorates of appraisement while 55 cases were decided in favour of private parties.

The Collector told Customs Today the decisions are taken without any discrimination.  Where private parties are on the right side they are extended relief without any delays. The cases of appeals were mostly about smuggled tyres, auto parts, cloths, blankets  and other miscellaneous goods and articles.
