Collector Adjudication Ambreen Tarar issues show cause notice to owner of NDP goods

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Collector Ambreen Ahmad Tarar has issued a show cause notice to the owner of non duty paid goods. Collector summoned the owner on 25.6.2017 at Custom House, Nabha Road, Lahore.

According to the details, Directorate General Post Clearance Audit through an audit observation dated 4.11.2015 pointed out the short levy of sales tax during the intervening period of rescinding the SRO 549 (I)/2008 and 11.6.2008 through SRO 573 (I)/2014 dated 26.6.2014. According to the contravention report M/s Hab Traders *NTN 2583822) imported 16 consignments of potatoes during the above mentioned period. The importer has deliberately claimed the benefits of SRO 549 (I)2008 dated 11,.6.2008 read with SRO 338 (I)/2014 dated 2.5.2014. On the basis above mentioned facts the respondents M/s Hab Traders Model Town Lahore (importer) M/s Afzal International Ravi Link Road (clearing agent) availed undue benefits and caused a loss of Rs35,66,713/- to national kitty.

Collector Adjudication directed the importer to appear in person or through their representative on 25.8.2017 at 11 a.m. at Custom House Nabha Road to explain its position, failing which ex-parte proceedings will take place. It is necessary to mention here that Customs Adjudication expedited their efforts to conclude hearing of pending cases on priority basis.
