Collector Adjudication issues show cause notice to alleged vehicle smuggler

FAISALABAD: Collector Customs Adjudication Mirza Mubashir Baig issued a show cause notice to suspect involved in smuggling of Nissan X-Trail.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Intelligence and Investigation team impounded a non duty paid vehicle Nissan X trail bearing registration No. AAN-772 (Quetta) model 2010 as White colour near Canal Road.

The occupant of the vehicle Ziaur Rehman failed to produce any documents regarding legal import or lawful possession of the vehicle except registration book. However, seizure report of the case was submitted for Customs Adjudication.

Furthermore, the collector has issued a show cause notice to Muhammad Ziaur Rehman son of Muhammad Ismail Khan to appear before the court on May 17, 2017 to prove the legal import of the items.

The authority also directed if no one appears to show the ownership of vehicle or fails to provide the evidence the case will be decided on the basis of available evidence.

The collector also directed the Assistant Director of Intelligence Syed Itrat Hussain and seizure officer concerned to attend the court’s hearing along with relevant record.
