ISLAMABAD: Collector Customs Adjudication Sadiqullah Khan summoned owners of 2000 kilogram of BOPP films and other smuggled items, Baitullah Khan and Haji Farman, on November 27.
The goods were seized by Customs Intelligence and Investigation Peshawar.
According to details, anti-smuggling squad intercepted a trailer bearing registration no.KBL-2514. The anti-smuggling squad recovered foreign origin goods, including 8811 kg of polyester cloth, 778 yards of curtain cloth, 1540 yards of seat cover cloth, 3800 yards of suiting cloth, 4500 pieces of universal LNBF and 2000 kilograms plastic rolls of BOPP film (40 rolls).
The occupant of goods on demand failed to produce any legal import documents or lawful possession of foreign origin goods therefore the goods were seized for violation of Section 2(c), 7, 16 and 157 of the Customs Act 1969. ASO squad after registering a case forwarded the same to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
Now Collector Customs Adjudication issued a show cause notice to the owner if the goods under Section 179 of Customs Act 1969 asking them that why the seized foreign origin smuggled goods should not be confiscated and why action should not be taken against them under section 156(1)(8)(89) of the Customs Act 1969 read with section 3(3) of import and export control act 1950 for violation of provision of section 2(s),7,16 and 157 of the Customs Act 1969 read with section 3(1) of Import Export Control Act 1950. The sources told that the case will be heard on October 27, 2018.
