Collector Adjudication Shahzad Ranjha declares seizure of NDP goods as legal

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Shahzad Liaquat Ranjha has issued Order-in-Original No. 05/2017 by declaring the seizure of non duty paid goods as legal.

Brief facts of the case, that staff of Customs Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) intercepted auto parts lyong auto parts lyig on road near Lakshami Chowk, Lahore. On query the person standing nearby the said auto parts, identified himself as Muhammad Jamshaid son of Muhammad Shafi. On query he stated that he and his another accomplice namely Amjad Ali had purchased the said auto parts from Mantgomery Road Market and the said Amjad Ali has left the spot for arrangement of conveyance for transportation of the said auto parts. Whereas, the meantime Customs ASO there and intercepted the goods.

During detailed search of the goods Customs ASO team recovered Spark plug part no. k16 Deno Toyota Lexus and Genuine parts of 700 pieces, car shock absorber (oil filled) and cluth kit (clutch plate and pressure plate) 25 pieces.

The ASO team asked the persons to show legal documents but the owner of the said goods failed to provide any relevant legal documents. Customs ASO team seized the entire auto parts and after registering a case vide customs acts forwarded the matter to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.

Deputy Collector Liaquat Ranja issued show cause notice to the owner of the above said goods but despite issuance of several notices he failed to appear in person to explain his point of view. After his failure and examining the whole case Customs Adjudication declares the seizure of non duty paid goods as legal and according to customs laws.
