Collector Adjudication summons accused in cigarettes, tobacco case

LAHORE: Collector of Adjudication Zafar Akhtar has issued show cause notice to a respondent in smuggling of foreign origin cigarettes and tobacco seized by anti-smuggling team of Customs Sambrial, Sialkot.

The ASO team received information that a truck bearing registration number K-8708 loaded with smuggled foreign originated tobacco and Milano brand of cigarettes was coming from Peshawar to Lahore.  The ASO team intercepted the truck on GTO Road near Rahwali Gujranwala.

The driver of the truck Ahmad Noor son of Alam Jan is a resident of KPK. The Collector of Adjudication has fixed hearing in the case of smuggled cigarettes and tobacco as October, 4 at the Customs House near Nabha Road Lahore.

The collector said that the respondent in the hearing may appear in person or through their accredited counsel to defend the case.  The respondent was asked to submit written a reply on or before the said date.

It was said that in case of non-response matter will be decided on the basis of available evidence and material available on record.
