Collector Adjudication summons respondents in case of cloth smuggling

LAHORE: Collector of Customs Adjudication summons 31 respondents in case reported by the Assistant Director, Directorate & Investigation-FBR, Range Office, Gujranwala vide seizure report in case number 11/2017 (1&1-Gujranwal unit).

It was reported that in pursuance of information staff of Intelligence & Investigation-FBR, Range Office, Gujranwala intercepted one Mazda mini truck bearing registration number LES-13-6585 near Wazirabad Bypass, G.T. Road, Gujranwala which was coming from Rawalpindi.

On cursory inspection the said truck was found loaded with assorted goods of foreign origin including silk cloth, ladies shawal cloth, steering locks, engine foundation, compressor , engines for Vitz car .

On query, driver of the truck stated the address of the owner as Muhammad Azhar son of Chan Khan, resident of village Mangora, on further query, driver stated that the goods in the truck had been loaded from Rawalpindi which were destined for Lahore. The driver also provided 31 bilties all issued by M/s Pindi Karwan Goods Forwarding Agency (Regd), Babu Lal Hussain Road, Gunj Mandi, Rawalpindi to booking of the goods available in the truck.

The detecting agency registered a case on failure of the driver to produce legal documents of clearance against the 31 bilties.

Hearing, in this case will be held at the Customs House on April 3 and respondents may appear in person or an accredited counsel to defend the case.
