Collector Ahmed Reza holds meeting to review revenue collection measures

SIALKOT: Collector Customs Sialkot Ahmed Reza Khan presided over a meeting at his office the other day to review revenue collection measures of the current fiscal year 2016-17.

Sources told Customs Today that Additional Collector Faiz Ali, Deputy Collectors Waheed Anwar Abro, Muhammad Ilyas, Muhammad Hanif Khan and other officials attended the meeting.

During the meeting collector customs directed all participants of meeting  to attain revenue targets for the economic year 2016-17, while Deputy Collector Muhammad Hanif Khan briefed the collector about the revenue collection measures finalized by Customs House  for the current fiscal year 2015-16.

Deputy Collector Waheed Abro said that only Sialkot Dry Port is handing entire import and export consignments of Punjab. Audit of import clearance through WeBOC to measure the transparency also came under discussion during the meeting. Sources told Collector directed all participants to make early recovery of arrears from defaulters in order to collect taxes.

However  deputy collector also briefed about manufacturing bond certificate and DTRE audit during the meeting. Customs House Sialkot became biggest revenue collection station of Customs in Pakistan after Karachi due to import of huge volume of scrap, leather items, raw material zips etc through Sialkot Dry Port.

Sources told Deputy Collector Waheed Abro apprised Collector Ahmed Reza Khan about major reasons in the decline of revenue collection.  On this occasion Collector Ahmed Reza directed all participants  of the meeting to accomplish their revenue targets. When contacted Deputy Collector Muhammad Hanif Khan told Customs Today, that we have surpasses revenue collection target of 2015-16 and the main agenda of meeting was to finalize strategy to collect revenue and recovery from tax defaulters. He said the meeting was discussed on recovery to collect default amount from defaulters. He said that all resources would be used to collect default amount from defaulters as per law whereas no pressure will be accepted to spare any defaulter.
