Collector Appraisement West Dr Farid Iqbal hails performance of PRV Department

KARACHI: Collector of Customs Appraisement West Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi presided over a meeting of the officers of the Post Release Verification (PRV).

During the meeting, the Collector Appraisement West reviewed the performance of the PRV Department and also called a report of the last six month.

Sources informed Customs Today that the PRV Department sent recovery notices to around 33 importers, who misused the valuation ruling and PCT Headings in importing their consignments, adding that the PRV Department issued recovery notices of worth Rs 110 million to different importers.

The Collector Appraisement West Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi expressed satisfaction over the performance of the PRV Department and also asked the officers to continue their efforts while detecting the tax evasion with the same zeal and passion.

The sources further said that the Collector Appraisement West Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi has decided to hold monthly meeting of the different departments of the Collectorate in order to evaluate the performance of the departments.

Meanwhile, Director of Directorate General of Training and Research (DGTR) Zeba Azhar has presided over a special meeting at her office and stress upon the officials to improve their performance.

Sources told Customs Today that it was the first meeting of the DGTR director with the officials and she was briefed on the seminars and training sessions being held in the directorate by the end of this current year.

Sources said that the Pakistan Customs would hold three to four seminars and training sessions for the federal officers and also hold training sessions for the clearing agents in connection with the newly introduced Electronic Import Form (EIF).

It is pertinent to mention here that the DGTR of Pakistan Customs has already organized two training sessions of the clearing agents in connection with EIF training at DGTR Building.

The sources further said that the Director DGTR Zeba Azhar would also call on by the Director General of DGTR Ghulam Muhammad in order to brief the working affairs of the directorate.
