Collector Appraisement-West Farid Iqbal Qureshi seeks current status of cases pending in courts

KARACHI: Collector of Customs Collectorate Appraisement West Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi has directed the officials to prepare a report of the cases which are pending in different courts. He said that the report be presented before him as soon as possible with current status of the cases.

Sources informed Customs Today that the officials of the Collectorate have started compiling the record of the cases which have been decided or pending in different courts last fiscal year.

The sources said that around 150 cases are pending in different courts, including Customs Appellate, Customs Tribunal, Sindh High Court (SHC), sessions court and others.

The sources further disclosed that millions of rupees in term of national exchequer are stuck up in different courts adding that the Customs authorities are follow-up the cases at regular intervals.

Replying to a query, the sources informed that the Collector Appraisement (West) Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi has asked the authorities concerned of the Collectorate to hire a competent and skilled solicitor for hearing of the legal cases on behalf of Pakistan Customs-FBR, so that the pending cases could be decided soon adding that stuck revenue could be retrieved by following the cases in proper manner.
