The sources further said that the step is being taken to avoid mis-declaration and under-invoicing in export consignments, as recently the Customs authorities have seized some cases of tax evasion and mis-declaration in export consignments which were later investigated by the authorities of Customs Intelligence and Investigation-FBR.

The sources further informed this scribe that the additional collectors and deputy collectors have started their working in compiling a detailed list of EOUs in order to scrutinize the export data in recent days.

Replying to a query, the sources further disclosed that the authorities of Customs Exports would also seek assistance by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and other commercial banks for compiling the data of Export Oriented Units (EOUs) and its respective clearance.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Federal Board of Revenue-FBR has already issued guidelines for export consignments in order to minimize the risk of mis-declaration, tax evasion and exchange of foreign reserves through illegal means.
