Collector Imran Ahmad directs ASO to take strict action against illegal dumping stations of HSD

MULTAN: Collector Customs Imran Ahmad Chaudhary has directed Anti-Smuggling Organizations (ASO) to take strict action against illegal dumping stations of High-Speed Diesel and Petroleum products.

According to details, Multan Collectorate has also taken notice for restraining smuggling of HSD and petroleum products in the jurisdiction. The Collectorate has issued office order regarding the action against smuggled dumping stations involved in the smuggling of High-Speed Diesel and Petroleum products. Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan seized almost 1.1million High Speed Diesel and Petroleum products which were dumped near Muzaffargarh region. These dumping stations were supplying smuggled High-Speed Diesel to retailers in the surrounding and costing heavy losses to national exchequer.

The Collector took action after the notice of Member Customs Tariq Huda for not taking concrete action against smuggled High-Speed Diesel in the jurisdiction. It is also pertinent to mention here that Collector has provided record to Member Customs regarding action against smugglers involved in the smuggling of HSD and lodged almost 13 FIRs against accused on charge of smuggling.

Multan Customs has also informed Member Customs Tariq Huda that Collectorate has seized illegal dumping station of Malik Shaboo three times in last few years and lodged various criminal cases against him. Customs Investigation and Prosecution has framed several cases of HSD smuggling in South Punjab in past few and accused Malik Shabbo failed to substantiate its claim of being rightful owner.

Mega seizure of petroleum products shows substantial performance in smuggling of HSD and further actions were under process. Recovered HSD smuggled fuel products has derailed campaign against illegal petrol pumps and smuggled petroleum products spearheaded by Member Custom Operation. Special Committee of Multan Customs is also probing connection of staff in connivance of HSD smuggling. Further actions and interrogations regarding HSD dumping stations are still under process.
