Collector Imran Bokhari directs to enhance monitoring, checking at Multan Int’l Airport

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Collector Imran Sajjad Bokhari has directed customs staff deputed at Multan International Airport to remain high alert to curb smuggling of drugs and ensure timely prosecution.

The Collectorate has tightened the scrutiny of passenger at the Multan International Airport. Customs Enforcement is ensuring that every passenger should declare foreign currency at the Currency declaration after announcement of compulsory for international passengers.

Multan Customs Enforcement has already implemented one of the major requirements of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to curb money-laundering and established special desk regarding the currency declaration by inbound and outbound international passengers.

Now Customs Enforcement staff and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) are working together at the Currency declaration counter to curb foil any attempt of money laundering. Customs has declared that it is mandatory for all international passengers coming to or moving out of Pakistan to fill out currency declaration forms and hand over them to the airline staff. It has been mandatory for the passengers to disclose all types of domestic and foreign currencies. The currency declaration form which must be filled out before check-in for the flight.

Customs staff explained all the clauses of the currency declaration form to the staff members. The guidelines were given during a meeting in Multan. Multan Customs Collector Syed Imran Sajjad Bukhari told staff that if smuggling of gold, Currency, Mobile Phones hurts economy but drug will affect generations. Be high alert on drugs and ensure time bound prosecution. We need to bring logical conclusion in each case under Custom Act 1969.

He further said that maximum alertness is necessary on the part of Customs officers and also in using intelligence inputs received
