QUETTA: During on-going drive against smuggling, Collectorate of Customs Enforcement under the supervision of Collector Irfan Javed thwarted smuggling attempts and recovered goods worth Rs87 million in two different operations.
Sources said that a credible information was received to the effect that an attempt will be made to transport smuggled goods via RDC Highway Noshki. The staff of Customs Check Post, Noshki exercised strict vigilance of the road traffic.
On 15.8.2021 at about 1400 hours, Daewoo Bus bearing registration no: BSA-201 reached at RCD Highway, which was stopped for checking. On thorough search of the said truck, the following foreign origin smuggled goods were recovered.
- Foreign origin blankts 7,125 kilograms
- Dinner/crocker items 286 cartons
- Dove Soap 77 cartons
- Auto parts items and other misc. goods 41 cartons
- Transporting vehicle 1
The approximate market value of seized goods along with vehicle used for carriage of smuggled goods is Rs31 million.
It is further added that the anti-smuggling drive under the supervision of Collector Irfan Javed as well as with the support of Law Enforcement agencies has resulted in manifold increase in seizure of contraband goods and vehicles.
During another operation, Collectorate of Customs Enforcement team under the supervision of Collector Irfan Javed foiled bid to smuggle huge quantity of contraband goods.
Sources said that credible information was received that huge quantity of high valued contraband goods would be smuggled into the country, the customs officials staff posted at Lakpass was directed to maintain liaison with FC officers for joint operation against the anticipated smuggling of goods.
Accordingly, on 6.8.2021 in the aera of Sheikh Wasil, the customs staff with the assistance of Frontier Corps force recovered following goods.
- Almond without shell USA 16,334 kilograms
- Chinese salt 6,800 kilograms
- Tyres foreign origin diferent sizes 93 number
- Mosquito Repellent Insect killer 29 cartons
- Transporting vehicle 1
The approximate market value of seized goods along with vehicle used for carriage of smuggled goods is Rs56 million. It is further added Collector Customs Irfan Javed directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling. He directed that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt as per law.
