Collector Irfan Javed’s Quetta Customs seizes copper coated wire worth Rs50m

QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement and Compliance (E&C) has seized Rs50 million worth of copper coated wire, which was being transported in a truck.

Sources said that onn the instructions of Chief Collector Baluchistan Gul Rehman, Collector Quetta Irfan Javed has increased monitoring of routes and tightened checking of vehicles carrying smuggling prone items.

Information was passed through Additional Collector Yasir Kalwar regarding movement of smuggled copper coated wire. Deputy Collector Akbar Jan formed a team comprising Superintendent Tariq Sultan, Inspectors Shabbir Khan, Rehmatullah Khan, Ishaq George and sepoys.

During the process, a truck was intercepted at Lakpas. The driver of the vehicle presented a copy of GD which was cleared from NLC Quetta, but the goods stuffed in the truck were not as per the GD.

The goods were seized and investigations are still under way.
