Collector Irfan Javed’s Quetta Customs seizes narcotics worth Rs110m

QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement and Compliance (E&C) team has foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics and seized large quantity of opium and charas. The value of the seized goods is Rs110 million.

According to sources, Chief Collector Baluchistan Gul Rehman has directed field formations to launch a crackdown the movement of smuggled goods including narcotics and diesel.

Collector Irfan Javed directed Additional Collector Yasir Wahab Kalwar to enhance vigilance regarding movement of contraband items. A team was formed under the supervision of Assistant Collector Umair Khan and comprising Superintendent Khursheed Husni, Inspectors Ali Ahmed Lehri, Nadeem Tahir, Sepoys Munir Ahmed, Inrahim Lehri etc. to conduct the operation.

Subsequently a truck loaded with sand was spotted and stopped at l check post in Dera Murad Jamali. The checking of the vehicle led to recovery of 370kg of charas and 8kg of opium, which were hidden tactfully in the secret cavities of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle managed to escape. The narcotics were to be smuggled to Europe.

It may be mentioned here that, large quantity of contrabands were seized at this same check post last month, after which checking and vigilance was increased.
