QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs Quetta Appraisement and Collectorte of Customs Preventive have surpassed all assigned targets during the first half of financial year 2020-21.
According to the details, FBR lauded the performance of Collector Appraisement Abdul Waheed Murwat and Collector Preventive Irfan Javed and for the extra ordinary performance under guidance of Chief Collector Gul Rehman.
Collector Waheed Marwat along with his team comprising ADC Aftab Shah and ADC Qasim Khokar, DC Shah Faisal Sahoo and DC Shahid Hayat are following the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Islamabad policy of effective monitoring to combat misdeclaration, facilitation of trade through reduction in clearance time, open door policy for grievances redressal and strict adherence to transparent and merit based decision making.
Quetta Customs Preventive recovered Rs6.32 billion worth of goods during the first six months of fiscal year 2020-21, which is 114 percent higher than the assigned target. Customs Preventive team led by Collector Irfan Javed and ADC Yasir Kalwar, DC Ajbar Jan and DC Amjad Rajpar have displayed extra ordinary competence and commitment in securing the legitimate government revenue and eliminating smuggling.
According to the Customs officials, the Preventive sided of Quetta Collectorate recovered 704 NCP vehicles worth around RS1.0 billion. Around 3.2 million liters of Iranian diesel worth Rs220 million was also recovered.
Other goods recovered include tyres, betel nuts, cloth, cigarettes, auto parts, electronics and drugs.
Customs Quetta were assisting by FC and other law enforcement agencies.
The revenue collection and seizure of smuggled goods is the result of the all out combined efforts of the whole team led by Chief Collector Gul Rehman. FBR also lauded the Collectorate on its unprecedented performance.
Customs department is playing vital role in generating revenue for national exchequer and MCC Appraisement Quetta also appreciated the role of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Quetta and Chaman in trade facilitation and campaign against smuggling.
Customs Preventive in December 2020 has collected Rs743.501 million Customs Duty against the assigned target of Rs579 million, surpassing the target by 28%. The Customs Duty Collection for 2nd Quarter of Financial Year 2020-2021 recorded an increase of over 49% as the Rs2.423 billion was collected against the target of Rs1.622 billion.
Overall, the Customs Quetta during the first half of Financial Year 2020-2021 collected Rs3.743 billion under the head of Customs Duty surpassing the target of Rs2.925 billion by 28% meaning thereby that Rs820 million has been collected over and above the assigned target.
The Customs Duty collection of Rs743.501 million in December 2020 is 16% higher than the Customs Duty collection in the same period last year. Collectively, the 1st half of FY 2020-21 witnessed 14% increase in CD collection as Rs3.743 billion has been collected in 2020-21 against Rs3.292.313 billion collected in same period during FY 2019-20.
