Collector Jawwad directs careful examination of imported items

KARACHI: Research and Development (R&D) Section of the Customs Collectorate Appraisement-East has boosted the scrutiny of the items importable under S No 23 Appendix A of the Import Policy Order (IPO) 2013.

According to e source, Collector Appraisement-East Ashad Jawwad has issued special directives for the examination of import goods. The source said that an alert has been issued to various departments of the Pakistan Customs to carefully examine the imported goods, especially the items described as ‘Candles for Birthday Cakes’.

The source also informed that the directives came after the complains of importers involved in importing banned items like ‘Firework Candles’, Camouflaging its description as ‘Candles for Birthday Cakes’ while the custom authorities have been advised to be vigilant against such activities.

After the directives of the Collector Ashad Jawwad the authorities are now much cautious during examining and assessing items with descriptions like ‘Candles for Birthday Cakes’, as well as items importable under S No 23 Appendix A of the Import Policy Order (IPO) 2013.
