Collector Mumtaz Khoso’s Port Qasim achieves target with collection of Rs55.53b during October

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Port Muhammad Bin Qasim (PMBQ) achieved its total revenue target for the month of October, 2019.

The total collection for October, 2019 stood at Rs55.531 billion as against the monthly assigned target of Rs52.629 billion, which is 5.23 percent higher than the assigned target and 29.61 percent higher than the Rs42.843 billion collection of October, 2018. Collection of customs duty (CD) in October, 2019 registered an increase of 22.47 percent, amounting to Rs17.596 billion as compared to the collection of Rs14.368 billion during October, 2018.

Similarly, in the same period sales tax collection increased from Rs23.032 billion to Rs32.142 billion, federal excise duty (FED) from Rs389.02 million to Rs545.546 million and income tax from Rs5.053 billion to Rs.247 billion

Collector Customs Port Mohammad Bin Qasim Mumtaz Ali Khoso has attributed this impressive revenue performance of the Collectorate, despite a steep decline in imports, to enhanced trade facilitation measures taken at the time of clearance of import goods and efficient managerial controls.

He especially lauded the leadership role of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Syed Muhammad Shabbar Zaidi, Member Customs Operations Dr. Jawwad Uwais Agha and Chief Collector Appraisement South Mrs. Suraiya Ahmed Butt. He also lauded the efforts of his team of officers and staff in achieving the revenue target and expressed the resolve to achieve the remaining revenue target for the current Financial Year.
